David James drives the TDP EVO VI to victory in Rallysprint

The Carlow Rallysprint held in Mondello on the 27th of December always gets a good entry. Yesterday was still a great entry for the times we are in, with 100 cars starting.

David James had decided not to take out his MK2 and to hire our our EVO once again. Having the victory from the MEC event on the 22nd of November, fresh minded he was reluctant to get back into the slower Escort.

When we arrived in Mondello, we were happy to see that there was no real sign of ice, except for a few spots in the paddock.

David took the Evo for the familiarisation run. He reported a very cold and damp track that was yielding very little grip. We set the car up for the lack of grip by reducing the power a lot to make it easier to drive, as a spin or minor off would cost him the win we came for.

From the first run on, he set the pace for the day and ended with a total time of 10:15.77 a full 18 seconds faster than the next car.

Well done David.

We could also like to congratulate Ian O’Connel on his class win in the TDP mapped 16V Mini.
